The Spanish American Center currently has the following employment opportunities available to the community:
Domestic Violence Counselor: 30 hour/week position. Responsibilities are to provide supportive counseling, referrals and advocacy for families experiencing domestic violence. This includes intake and assessment, development of a care plan, referrals and advocacy for housing, entitlement programs and support for affected children. Qualifcations include: Bilingual/Spanish-English required, , AA degree preferred, experience in the DV field preferred, familiarity with the local community, computer skills, Valid MA license and access to a registered vehicle.
Outreach and Recruitment Coordinator for Summer Youth Program: 20 hours per week for the months of May and June; possibility of continued employment during July and August. Responsibilities are to develop and utilize effective outreach and marketing strategies to ensure maximum nparticipation in the five summer program sites operated by the SAC. These include: SAC Site, Allencrest, Silverleaf and Riverside Public Housing developments and Fournier Park in Leominster. Qualifications include: Bilingual – Spanish/English; Familiarity with the North Central region, experience doing outreach and marketing in the Latino community; comfort and effectiveness in speaking to groups; good organization skills and creativity in developing effective marketing strategies. A valid MA driver’s license and access to a register motor vehicle is required.
Summer Program Coordinator: 25 hours per week, late June through August. This position requires taking responsibility for the overall day to day operations of the Summer Program for children and youth at five sites. This includes student enrollment, program planning, supervision of summer program employees, ongoing evaluation of program effectiveness and collaboration with community agencies. Qualifications include: AA degree preferred, proven experience working with multicultural youth, organization and planning skills, bilingual – Spanish/English, ability to effectively supervise others.
After School Youth Program Coordinator
We are seeking an enthusiastic and creative Youth Program Coordinator who is dedicated to improving the quality of the lives of multicultural youth in our community through structured after school activity. As our Youth Program Coordinator, you will be responsible for the overall day-to-day operations of the After School Program at the Spanish American Center for multicultural adolescents from age 12 – 20. You will actively recruit and enroll students, conduct outreach, and assist in program planning, implementation and evaluation. You will actively assist clients with progress towards identified outcomes. You will be engaged in collaboration with local/regional community agencies in order to promote the program while also enhancing its visibility as well as the mission and goals of the Spanish American Center, Inc.. TRAVEL: Regular local travel required.
POSITION STATUS: Part-time, 15-20 hours per Week during School Year (date of hire to mid June, 2020). This is a grant-funded position. SAC will provide travel/mileage reimbursement (.35/mile).
- Associates Degree in Human Services or related field.
- Proven experience working with multicultural youth
- Excellent organization and planning skills
- Ability to use a computer for Internet, email and document preparation
- Knowledge of community resources beneficial to youth
- Valid Massachusetts Driver’s License and access to registered motor vehicle required
- Bilingual/bicultural background strongly preferred
- Ability to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
